Hi,
Has anyone seen an Officer chincord like this one on an original Third Reich visor cap before?
This was on a Police Officer cap I recently purchased, and fits perfectly although I've never seen this style of cord before. It slips over the button on one end, and then slips over the button on the other end and the knot is then pushed along to make it sit tight. There is no way to adjust the length on it either.
The knots also have only 3 strands of bullion instead of the more often encountered 4 strands. Inside the knots seems to be either leather or thick cardboard instead of steel/aluminium.
I'm not sure if it's period, period foreign made, postwar or fake!
