DAK M41 Cap POW Embroidered Artwork (or Bogus Crapola)

I believe it to be bogus, but my question is are there others like this in collections? This hat surfaced before the similar POW cap in the DAK book by Kurt was published. So, if the cap in the book was the only one of its kind what example was used to make this hat? This hat had to copy another.

Yes there are at least three more of these fake "POW" caps including the one in the Kurtz book in collections.

Pretty sure I've seen a cap very similar to this one in an auction, probably held my Rock Island.

The hat in Kurz DAK book that is shown as a POW artwork cap. Obviously the same designs on each cap and I am not saying the one in the book is bad since I don't know anything about it. The quality of the embroidery is higher and the hat itself looks good. If I recall correctly that hat was on display at the SOS or Max shows.

The hat I have posted was apparently owned long before this book was published so my question is still, are there others like these in collections, who made the one I have??? If anyone has seen other similar examples or has one please post details.

Tim, I just saw your post. I posted the Kurz cap. So that one is confirmed as bad?

The cap posted here has "Stadt Effen" whereas the one in the book has "Stadt Essen"

Essen is spelled correctly on the pictured cap in the book as well as "Schmiede". "Waffen" is also correct and one can see the difference between "f" and "s" in this quasi-Fratur script. The fake cap clearly demonstrates the faker/maker's shortcomings.

Who outed the Kurtz pow cap as a fake and when? Just curious. The cap that begins this thread is a ludicrous phony.
