Officers Visor Kavallerie question and for evaluation

    Good day Gents,

may I ask for your expertise on this Kavallerie Visor. I bought it in an auction and the auction photos were already ok'ed in thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=939500 .

However, a new question has raised in my head: why is it a golden/bronce wreath around the cockade and not a silver one?

The cap is heading for estand but I would like to know what I'm actually going to sell there. A realistic evaluation would be appreciated as well. As you can see from my previous posts, I am not a visor man at all but more home in the world of Kriegsmarine cap tallies ...

    Many thanks in advance

    Daniel

Many thanks for both of your opinions.

Well, the piping is yellow-ish, so this would speak for Kavallerie. Would a infantry visor would have a bonce wreath then?

              Thx again in advance

The wreath is silver with the patina making it look goldish...

That is a Reichswehr-era early Schellenberg. I have no doubt that it originally had the 1st-type wreath and the M-34 WH eagle.

If this cap was owned by a smoker for some time, white piping could eventually yellow and look like this.
Does the cap give a strong, or even faint odor of smoke?
Does not look like cavalry or signals, to me.

                        Hi Marine HJ,
Maybe it's your photos but it looks more like soiled white piping then golden/yellow. Here's one I had owned.

                          Many thanks to you Daniel

From the more detailed images that you have now posted I agree with the others and I see a very dirty white infantry. This objectively does not detract from the historical value of the cap, which, although in poor condition, is still an early Schellenberg and therefore an interesting visor. The front badges and the chincords have been reassembled, as already mentioned. For the eagle this is evident because I see the double holes of the previous prongs higher up. It is clear that this, in my personal opinion, is not to take away your evaluation, because you have the cap in your hands, or to disfavor your sale but only for objectivity.

                          Best regards

Due to the numerous pm's and posts I will introduce to a dealer here in Hamburg who will hopefully give me a expertised personal view about the colour of the piping.

To me, as an absolute clueless man about visors, it doesn't matter that much whether it is a dirty white or bleached yellow but I do appreciate that it does matter to a potential buyer... if you are buying a Cavalry visor you wish to get a Cavalry visor...

Therefore the sale of the visor is suspended until I get another in hand opinion about the piping.

                            Rgds

The cap that started this thread is an infantry cap, with very dirty piping. Still a nice and well-worn cap! The Cavalry yellow looks very different, even in dirty condition.
