    Officer M38 field cap

I'm seeking evaluations from those collectors who are well versed on Heer Officer M38 field caps.
Here are photos of a "custom made" example I've had in the collection for many years.
The material is beautiful quality doeskin and Soutache appears to be
either Veterinary or General Staff. The bullion eagle is of an unusual pattern.
The cap is lined with a fine quality material, apparently to keep the wearer's head
warm (for a close cropped or bald person?)

Has any of you ever seen such a variation?
I wanted to show it here before offering it for sale.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I have seen a few of these types around, and I never liked them.

The lack of precise detailed construction and variance from normal/typical originals does not make me think it's original.

The cloth looks to me just like Carl Sieder (Sp?) from Vienna was using to make hats in the 1970s. I had one of his M-43 hats made of that cloth.

Not digging that one for sure
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Adding Soutache to the concerns stated above (construction, material). I have seen originals hand applied, folded over into the inside, and stitched over by the bottom stitch line... but never at the same time on one cap...

I would not feel comfortable with it ...

I’m not a fan of these caps with this meathod of construction, that’s just me though. Matt
