Greetings
Once in awhile at auctions, impulse takes over and I buy something that is suspect. This may have been one of those times. But generally I have done ok at auctions - so what the heck.
Opinions on this concentration camp hat would be appreciated. I am confused why the prisoner number and yellow triangle (not inverted) are sewn on the front of hat. I have traced the number to a female Auschwitz prisoner, but from what I understand females were not issued the hat, but a scarf.
I can only surmise this is fake or a vet or Pole, or dealer, at some point has stitched bringback items together or a collector did a bubba job.
Here's a link. And thanks in advance.
