ersatz style Luftwaffe M43 cap?

Hello all,

I have this cap here and I feel it is original though I don't know what I would call it exactly. Is this some sort of last-ditch ersatz style cap, or maybe one for a mechanic? It is almost similar in color to tropical pieces but I doubt this late in the war there would be much demand for that kind of thing. RBNr stamped on the cap's interior. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

That kind of number block stamp is the kind you find on tunics....not on caps...
