    Kradschützen Officer PEKÜRO - mint

    Hi

    I want to Show you my latest acquisition.

    It’s a Visor for Kradschützen officers in perfect condition.
    This color was only manufactured a Short Periode of Time and is in my Opinion the second rarest color from the Wehrmacht. Only chaplains are more rare.

    I Hope you like it and looking fortward to your opinions.

              My current collecting focus is shoulder straps / boards of the Heer;
              although I have owned many caps in my 50+ year collecting.

              It is indeed refreshing to see what I consider a TRUE example of a visor cap
              piped in copper brown. This color was also used by PANZER RECON
              Over the years there have been many visor caps described as Kradschutzen or Panzer Recon but were not:
              There were 3 of brown visor cap pipings in use during the period:
              Light brown: pre 1936 Signals
              Brown: Bautruppen
              Copper brown: Kradschutzen & Panzer Recon.

              I have examples of all 3 usages in my insignia collection.

              IMO, dealers often mis-identify brown waffenfarbe as Krad / Pz.Recon
              to increase the price! Certainly Krad / Pz.Recon are elite combat branches
              while pre-war signals or Construction troops (Bautruppen) are not!
              (for example, very few shoulder strap slip tabs with "159" in brown are
              offered as Bautruppen - most are identified Pz.Recon!

              Sorry for the sermon, but I wanted to both congratulate elBarto on his
              extremely rare and beautiful visor cap and offer some info about the other
              "browns".

              Merry Christmas to all;
              Chris Varrichio

                I agree with everything that longislandercjv stated about the colors (though the time period of this Peküro lining would suggest that it's at least not early Signals).

                As far as the visor is concerned though, I am unfortunately not as enthusiastic as everyone else here so far. I hope I am wrong but I'm afraid the piping was swooped on this one. Look at the lining attachment and the thickness of the piping. Maybe BenVK and stonemint can chime in here...

                  Well, I would approach this cap with caution.

                  The side lining has certainly been re-stitched during it's lifetime.
                  I can see just one neat and crisp fold, the rest is a bunched up mess.

                  I wouldn't write the whole cap off based solely on that though. Lining's came loose and unskilled hands re-attached them during the period so ..

                  I didn't like the thick and uneven piping at first, it's not a typical Pekuro trait but I'm sure I used to own a Artillery Pekuro that looked the same. In other words, not exactly in proportion and what one would expect from the Kupper firm but that was a much later manufactured cap.

                    To be hoest I think the piping is changed and put together.
                    Not for my collection. I'm sorry.
