Help With M41 Field Cap and insignia, maybe DAK

The insignia is fake (reproduction) for certain.

From the photos, it almost looks like someone attached a visor & sweatband to a sidecap. Do not believe the attached sweatband is period applied. Caps is pretty used but the added sweatband looks to have very little wear. Fake insignia attached post war so the cap has been played with, just how much ? Basic cap looks ok & maybe visor repairs.

Overall sounds correct but a sidecap would only have 1 grommet per side not two The visor and cap materials appear to be a perfect match. My opinion is it's an original, very salty, M40 with added fake insignia and added sweatband.

It's an original later Carl Halfar made cap but with fake insignia added in order to 'restore' it. This is not a sidecap with visor added; it is quite obviously a heavily used cap with repairs.

This cap was likely a POW cap, heavily worn, with a sweatband added as a practical improvement (in captivity).

Yes that is why i used the word "almost" which implies while it is perhaps close it is not in reality. I do think the visor has possibly been re-attached to the cap and is perhaps why the sweatband was added also which does not appear to duplicate the heavy wear to the cap itself. When is anybody'e guess. Rebuilt to sell with the fake insignia imo.

Would like to get a "hands on" to see the details.
