        Gentlemen. I would very much appreciate your input on this cap. Clearly the eagle is a later added diplomatic eagle, but what of the rest of the cap?

            Lining was pulled out of a real Eckenhoff visor.

                      The color, material, eagle and cockade all fit for a Penal cap.

                      Civilian caps of that style are often made more like a visor caps, as the pattern predates the War.

                            They may very well have also supplied the Civil Service and penal Authorities. It's just a possibility and more research should be devoted to it.
