Erel army visor with SS insignia

    Hi!

A while back i posted this visor in the SS Insignia-forum, but I guess it also belongs in the cloth headgear forum.

This is an Erel army visor with an Assman SS skull (and other insignia) on it. The skull is really tight on the visor and I have been informed that the SS sometimes had to make use of heer visors. It is my belief that the skull was put on by an Norwegian SS-voulenteer. Probably at the front in Finland. For more info on this visor please see the original post here:

I guess this is a standard Erel visor. The Erel maker mark is stamped in the sweatband also, but it is very hard to see. You need the right lighting to see it. I didnĀ“t take to many photos of the visor as I assume the insignia is the most exciting on it, but more photos can be produced if necessary.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

It is an original late-war WH Infantry Erel from the Fall of 1944.
You can see the prong holes from the WH wreath.

It looks like the veteran added a lot of souvenir insignia to it after the war.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, but I really think you should take the time to read my original post in the SS Insignia Forum. The visor with its insignia has everything to do with Norway. Most of the insignia is in fact Norway specific.

The cap skull is an Assmann 'Ges. Gesch', the sleeve eagle and cufftitle are very nice originals. I can't comment on the Norwegian-specific insignia but they are in very fine company.

            Thank you for your input.
The Noregian SS insignia is all good. Textbook.
DeMil and other Norwegian SS collectors have already assured me of that. Not that I was in doubt anyway. It was a woodwork find. Never in a collection before.
