Not the best photo, but this it clearly shows the compacted Chaplain wreath in wear by this Marinepfarrer:

A member kindly sent me a link to this site--this is supposed to be the visor of the Chaplain in the photos--I'm not buying it (literally & figuratively):

It is supposed to be the same hat being worn in the photo. To me, he is just wearing a standard KM wreath w/o a cross:

..agree, this is very informative.
To me it seems as the type Hausmuster from Theile & Steinart is the one seen on period photos and NOT the other one with the small cross...
