Dear all,
This week I received this nice M43 fieldcap, thanks to the great service of Antonio. I always wanted one but most of the late war caps I encountered were unissued or heavily used but without original applied insignia.
The quality of the wool is very poor and although it has been worn but not excessively, the quality of earlier war wool is definatly no longer the case. Lot of spiks and other coloured dots in the recycled material.
The overal colour is yellowish but definatly with green in it.
Markings are faint - and so are my eyes - but IMO dated 1944 ?)
Interesting liner in different material.
Based on the markings, could maker be Franz Ritter? Thanks to moderator Glenn for his offline expertise.
Best regards,
Jan B.
