    I disagree with Clestuff.

Having the cap in hand you can clearly see the cloth colour is different to that of Coastal Artillery. Colour, shape, etc compares favourably with other original SS M40 caps.

Frankenstein, I don't think so it looks and feels ok to me. I have owned it for many years and this is the first time it has been shown, so how anyone can conclude it's a Frankenstein without examining it in hand is absurd.

NB. I am the seller. Cap and other items are on the website I share with a friend: www.militarychest.com

To me, it looks like an "original" Coastal Artillery cap with "original" SS insignia re-applied after being removed from another cap. A cap made from various parts is often referred to as a "Frankenstein". I base this on the shabby looking edges on both eagle and skull, and the lack of false piping. Not to mention the inner stamp. I personally like to see just a size stamp on an SS cap. When skull and eagle was added is anybody's guess. Was this cap issued to somebody in the SS? I don't think so. This is my opinion based on the photos I see.
I agree NOT SS CUT, these were worn by the SS tho, but imo insignia not original to this cap, maker stamps are seen on original SS caps.
