DAK period modified

This DAK shiftmutze with an added peak has been offered to me. Any chance that it is a period piece. I have never handled or seen one , so it is way above my paygrade. Was this period done or just a fake made to deceive? I have my own opinion, but would rather more educated ones. J

Not even close, grommets, material, constuction etc all bad. and feel sorry for this cap as its been abused with contrived wear
