Gentlemen. I would appreciate your thoughts on this M41 Cap.

Note the lack of ventilation eyelets and also the insignia which appears to be cut down to remove a blue / backing.

My first thoughs are that the aging has been contrived. The same substance has been applied to areas of the hat and the sweatband as well. With a heavier dose on the eagle. It is not dirt or rust IMO. Unnatural.

Yes the eagle certainly looks like a trimmed wool eagle.

Hopefully some others will chime in as well.

The splash marks certainly shows this material was well soiled before being cut and sewn together.
I know little of LW tropical headgear, but agree with Willi that the aging causes me concerns.
