A lot collectors ( the biggest majority) think they are fake sidecaps because of few details including stamp and eagle. No one has found one from veteran (from what I read in this forum). They are very very well made IMO with original cloth, cockade and maybe eagle (at least eagle was embroyed on good cloth). It's hard for me to believe they are so nicely made and that they would be fake. But it's the collectors consensus.

I agree; some like them, some don't.

            Hi.,
I don't have any problems with this side cap.... for me original.
When I hear some collectors's opinions... " I don't like it... I must always laugh...
it doesn't sound professional.... many collectors don't have rational/logical explanations for their opinions.
I have a tropical side cap in my collection which comes directly from the veterans family.
It was made by Berolina Berlin and this company was a well kown maker of this kind of sidecaps. So I don't have any doubts about their authenticy.

Those who don't like these aren't as simple minded as you imply (what is a professional collector anyway?). The stamp on the example shown is different than the stamp on known original Berolina caps (particularly the "9"). Pretty rational and logical.
