My fellow collectors ,

let me share my newest aquisition in the headgear department with you.
The cap is in a very nice , hardly worn condition and is dated 1941.

Quite good readable also is the maker's stamp and size in the lining.

The cap was made by " Peter Küpper , Mützenfabrik , Wuppertal -Ronsdorf "

You have a very strange cap. The construction looks to be spot on judging from the pictures. What is really strange is the sweatband. I have never seen a EM/NCO's side cap with one. I think its why people hesitates to post their opinion.

The grommets look to be the early pre-war type. Such grommets usually seen on side-caps made up 1936 & 1937, sometimes later. They are magnetic, however have a gold-bright-brass coating on the reverse. In this case the reverse is rusted from being damp. They are the correct grey enamel on the outside.

This 1941 cap is a bit of a weird combination with pre-war grommets and an officer leather forehead sweatband. But I suppose theoretically possible.

Would need need to compare with more beyond doubt examples by this maker to be able to comment further,

well there are definite difference between the stamps you show and the stamp in the cap which started this thread. Yet the stamps you show are basically consistent in style and layout. Not a good sign unless we can find evidence that this maker used more than one type of stamp in 1941 ???

Are there other differences when compared with the cap in the link that you have provided ???

Markings and grommets are the obvious differences between the sidecap subject of this thread and the two others 1941 dated Heer sidecaps.
A comparizon in hands would reveal more maybe, but i can't say for sure.

I got in hand this cap at the last german show, and in hand looked like one absolutely original piece. Looks old to me.
