This arrived with some other items. Not my strong area of knowledge. Obviously it had a soutache. Eagle looks best when cap is flat; when the front is flattened for a photo, you can see how the eagle buckles a little.

Because I think the soiling is bogus, doesn't mean you should make it personal and come on to a thread to harass me, or anyone else for that matter. If I recall correctly, Willi, the order was made in the Summer of 1942 - but some evidence exists, showing the soutache on newly-issued caps, even after the order was delivered. Wagner made similar style caps for the SS and for KM coastal artillery, some with false piping and some without.
In truth, I don't think it mattered that much at the time which insignia was sewn to which style cap.Comment
