Looks to be an original EM/NCO overseas that was upgraded to officer..Too bad it was denazified.

Perhaps he removed the swastika in order to make room for the cross as both would not fit.

The cap is 100% original . Seems to have been "period " upgraded to a Ecclesiastic "officer" and denazified in 44.

This cap came with a group of other items. It was sold directly by the family.
As told by the family member, the "father" continued his work inside the POW camps in 1944 - 45 .
