Some minor issues: the double holes, some small stretch of mending, the writing on the sb (Hpt ) ... but I like it

Thanks for the details,

I have no idea why there are the extra holes around the cockade. Any thoughts?

Regarding the writing I just thought it is a name of the original owner, but who knows.....

According to the link that Marcello posted it seems that the cap was made by Schellenberg.

Probably during its second theatrical life, it was disguised with an eagle.
As regards to the writing, it seems to me that Hpt. = Hauptmann, though the chincord is not for an officer and Hauptmann = Polizei Wachtmeister. But I could be wrong, because at this time I'm not able to verify the ranks' equivalence between the Army and the Police or maybe much more simply I misread the writing. However, it is just a detail.

yes you are right, the distance of the holes looks like the metal army eagle was applied there before.

I also dont know much about the police ranks - I am also not specialist for hats and cloth items, my main area are the badges, especially the ones made in Gablonz.
