The unfinished natural leather matches the tropical uniform better than black finished side. IMHO this is why the buckles are correct on the natural side. Be very careful removing and reattaching the chin strap, these are usually quite fragile. Meyers are found with the chin straps facing both ways in period photos and straight from the woodwork.

Why risk changing the chinstrap to face the other way and risk damaging?? IMO, I would leave as is as it has probably been this way for a long time.

            Hi Tim

Very nice cap and I agree with the other comments about leaving the strap as is. I have a worn example with the dark side of the strap also facing to the front.

I was very careful and put the raw leather back outside, facing front. Thanx guys.

The problem is your tank is blue and its commander is a green alien! You and your son have some painting to do!

Dan, I did not suggest that TP change the strap, only that he take extreme care if he does. You and Robt. might want to actually read what TP says about the chin strap in his initial post on his Meyer.

"When I got it the chinstrap was backside out...
I can always change it back."

You never read the WW2 sci-fi series by Harry Turtledove?? Where the aliens invade early in WW2?

See, I have learned ot have an excuse for everything!!
