Erel visor green piping. opinions please

    Erel visor green piping. opinions please

    Hello

    I would like to have your opinion on this well used & genuine Erel Visor cap
    with light faded and dirty green piping..
    I really don't know witch kind of green it is for.. Gebirgs Jäger ?
    - Also there is another problem with a "Geprüft" stamp on it..
    We can see IMO 2./ N.A.22
    I already saw a similar stamp on a heer signal visor 1./N.A.15..
    In that case the "N" would be " Nachrichten-Abteilung 22" & for a signal it is correct..
    but that kind of stamp on a green piping cap ??

              In my opinion it looks like you have a nice Erel cap that someone tried to turn into a green-piped cap. Obviously it started out as a yellow-piped Nachrichten cap as per the stamps but whether or not it was "converted" to a green piping during the war or after cannot be determined from the photos.

                  the cap is unit marked to
                  "N.A.15" (Nachtrichten Btl, 15.Infanterie Div.
                  It is also marked to "N.A.22" (? hard to read)
                  of the 22."Luftlande" Div.
                  The redying of the piping is well done, but when & why?
                  Hard to comprehend why a Signals soldier would be reassigned
                  to a Schutzen / Kradschutzen unit, or later to a Panzergrenadier unit.

                      Agree. IMO the dying is post war, generally because pz gr. is a highly desirable waffen farbe.

                        I knew a fellow who was an enlisted man in NA 5 and was in Holland but wanted to see action before the war ended so he volunteered to go into the front lines and ended up in Pz. Gren. Regt. 79 as an adjutant (lt.) and decidedly got his wish. He still had his signals EM visor cap and Pz. Gren. officer uniforms after the war.
