    SS Tropical Fieldcap

I've owned a few tropical caps before but never an SS version.

What do you guys think of this one?
The skull is machine sewn and not through the lining.
The grommets/eyelets seem to be aluminium and painted tan over brown. The washers are zinc.
The only marking is the size stamp.
I can't explain the black staining, it's very odd.

I like it! Even though lacking an eagle I think it fits the criteria of a good one. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules for the SS trop caps as they contracted out and borrowed sometimes from other branches like the Navy.

I think it stands a great chance, based on these pics, I like it.

                    I don't think so Sergio.

                    Take a closer look.

Some of the stitching has not been stained and is still tan colour.

because along the inside seam it is and smeared in blue? The other stitching is in beige thread? The white wire is attached to the inner liner

                              Hi Ben

I keep coming back to this cap and still don't know what to make of it ? The basic cap itself looks good including the grommets. But not convinced the eagle is not post war added. & the blue stains and blue thread are hard to explain....except maybe to attempt to hide the fact that the cap has been messed with ?

& thanks Sergio for posting those excellent caps pics Can you show the CW makers stamp ? Is it the oval with just Braunschweig ?

                              cheers
                              Tim
