I know that this eagle is an original SA but I have never seen a hat like this so is the hat original? I got it for the eagle assuming the hat might be bad but before I cut it off I want opinions on the hat. You can see the patch was not stitched through the liner.

Absolutely NOT the same cloth at all; first cap is fake made with US hbt cloth - second is wartime sidecap made of German hbt cloth.Comment

Please forgive my lack of knowledge in this area but what detail determines US hbt cloth and german hbt cloth?
What is hbt cloth?
I am not questioning your knowledge but the hat is very well made and i wold think that if this was meant to be a replica you would see more of them. Before I go cutting the eagle off which is original, I just want to be certain the hat is not so if you can give me more ino that wold help me out.
