I have been offered this overseas cap.
Can anyone tell me whether it is authentic?
Also, is $175 a reasonable price for it?

Neat cap and decent price. usually $225 and up...I own several.
Interesting that it has regular pebbled buttons as opposed to the NSKK eagle buttons...perhaps de-nazified and restored like this?
The eagle triangle does look like a re-application...

Buttons are original to this cap. I've seen this several times before.

No, I think it's a cap eagle.

I looked up the cap eagle and it a pears to be a 2 pattern cap eagle black for berlin

It's a fine cap and the eagle patch might be a sloppy application but the cap, it's tag + insignia and buttons are all real.
I guess generic buttons could have been a war time substitute thing.... Certainly not standard prewar, without eagle buttons,
but it is a good buy at a terrific price regardless of these (minor) anomalies.
