It looks pretty good overall but I do see a potential issue.

The back of the sweatband seems to show evidence of pressing against the prongs of a chincord button in this area that I've highlighted. Is it the same on the other side?

To me it looks like a fantastic visor from the pictures, but with there a carefull detailed hands on assesment is always advisable. J

          Thank you for comments,

          BenVK,

Yes it seems to be similar on the other side.
The pressure exercised by the flexible visor often makes bend the headband and damages it over the years at this place... So, It's difficult to see that but it had maybe a chaincord.

Are there any holes in the velvet and headband for buttons?

Onn the velvet, I see a little hole on the right side but not on left...
I can not tell if this hole is a damage hole or a chaincord hole...

Over the headband, the wear can be also provoked by the friction of the lapel of the leather.

Please, don't lough about my photoshop art

The Deschler skull has been either moved or replaced at some point ... there is the outline of where another lower jaw once was.

                  Helle Ian,

I can see what you say. It's just a visual effect due to the shadows of the photo on the velvet. I have just move a litlle bit the headskull and on this (bad) pic you can see its real imprint on the velvet.

I like it a lot and don't see any issues. Over the top hard to find with the velvet band.

It may have a cord on it for a time during the war as a LOT of officer crushers (W-SS) can be seen in photos with them and they are in fact real old style field caps or crushers ....and not crushed up Schirmutzen as they are often captioned to be when seen in "reference" books.

For me cords on or off and even insignia maybe replaced during the war or post war is not that big of a deal

                            Thank you all for comments!

                            Phild,

Indeed, it is always difficult (even if sometimes it is blatant...) to know if there were hanging modifications duriinng the war or after the war.
More on many photos where germans are surredering, insigna are removed. Fortunately the imprint in the velvet corresponds well to this death's-head (not very visible on photos)

                              Hello to everyone.....
It looks a very good visor...but I'm with Ben...and those signs concern me.
Inside fabric show very little use, no signs of former button prongs passing through or under the edge of the liner so or the sweatband has been moved or the the inside fabric has been changed....
                              Of course IMHO....
                              Regards
                              Giorgio
