This hat has been bouncing around Ebay for the last several months.
I have been asked my opinion, but I would like to hear what others say:

If that is a fake, I had best never buy a police cap again! I will admit however, that I have NEVER seen a police approval stamp like that. Seems to be a bit of overkill, but I just dont know.

IMO it is a Franky.
A few points to ponder:

1. Whenever one sees a newspaper in an unissued cap, that is a red flag.
2. The peak stiffener appears to be a wooden dowel of some sort;
3. The lining is crudely sewn;
4. The visor underside screams BRD.
5. Leather sweatband appears to be re-stitched;
6. I agree with you on the stamp.

IMO, a BRD cap re-banded with TR brown.
