or fire related? (LW air base)...
This based on a color closer to Prussian Blue used on the cap body, as opposed to a lighter Blue-Gray LW wool...

Not fire related...Luftwaffe fire brigades ( Fliegerhorst Feuerwehr ) had a black cloth cap band and carmine piping , no ribbed mohair cap band...

I am going to go out on a limb and say it some form of rebadged civil cap - it is showing up as a very dark blue on my monitor and the interior lining looks more like that found in a civil cap.

Hi all, thanks for your opinions. Though call on this I think.
All I can say is that it was found on a estate like this. I dont think someone rebadged the cap since no collector had it before, though you never know.
As to the civillian appereance of the liner, well combined with the 1st style Luft eagle it would make this a very early cap I think. Most probably private purchased pre war from a local cap maker, thus the civillian stylish liner ???

                    Many thanks, Jens

Yeah I see now that its not fire Carmine piped after all.....more Flak red in color...
(now on a different computer with different monitor).
That the cap band is LW ribbed style mohair is indeed not text book for LW fire...
but I guess that could have still been a cap maker's choice...(or error) but since its not carmine we can indeed eliminate LW fliegerhorst feuerwehr.
Even on this monitor the color of the wool certainly appears to be too dark for LW...
but who knows? Interesting mix if untouched...so a Flak cap in darker than normal blue! Maybe he had a uniform tailored (outside of the Reich)
in darker than normal Luft color (I have seen that on foreign made LW uniforms) and ordered a cap in a matching shade of (darker) blue!

Jens, are there any stamps under the sweat band?

LW EM/NCO private purchase visors run the gamut from dark blue to light gray.

What about a rebadged Soldatenbund visor

Marcello, good point, but I would expect to see the standard WH 1-piece visor and the Soldatenbund trademark on the sweatdiamond.

Soldatenbund visors are usually even darker than the LW example shown.
