I have a cavalry officer's cap, made by Bamufa. Wilkins' book lists them as only makers of Heer & Polizei caps.
Perhaps I'm just overly suspicious, but Bavaria seems an unlikely location for a KM capmaker.
I'm curious to see what the final auction price will be.

Nice post-war Bundesmarine visor ruined by adding equally nice TR insignia. Just my opinion but not what a collector of historical items would seek to have in his or her collection...

I would have to agree, those pleats alone on the lining suggest this cap has been dicked with

                Hallo Kurt and Beck

Only a little curiosity, with the premise that I'm not a collector of Kriegsmarine's headgears.
This would mean that also the lining with the BAMUFA inscription has been added to the body of the cap?
In this case, taking a look at the seams would provide further evidence, unless BAMUFA has also worked during the BRD ... but I do not remember this.

                Best regards

No, that Bamufa liner is a TR period liner. One can assume at this point that this is a Franky. Also it is a foregone conclusion that the white top does not match the cap.

UPDATE: Good grief! just saw this cap posted on Grenadier Military auction at 5k so far

I'm with Kurt. The cap is put together with Bundesmarine and Kriegsmarine parts. I would stay away from it.
