                  What is Gottlieb's purpose in selling repros anyway? You would think that with his "reputation" he would want to stay as far away from those things as possible.

                  Perhaps it is to better "educate" all of us of what is real and what isn't......or it's perhaps it's just to make a buck anyway or with anything he can. It's kind of like **** shoveling or garbage collecting............somebody has to do it I guess.

                    I am of the opinion that replicas and reproductions are fine - many of the medals on my uniform colleection are replicas as I choose to put my limited funds into the uniforms and visors. The scary thing with the replicas in Craig's auction is that many of them were pretty high-end fakes, and the realized prices mean that they were purchased with the sole intent of re-selling them as originals at some point in the future. I don't fault them being sold, but it just goes to show that you better know your Shiite before you buy something.
