could you please give me your opinion on this Knautschmütze? Does the insignia look period-applied? What would such a Mütze be worth?

I tend to like what I see; it's a handsome cap, with thick piping, and the insignia appears to have been in place for some time. The leather peak looks original as well.
I see that the maker was from Gumbinnen, an old East Prussian garrison town, now part of Poland.
Just my two pfennigs worth.

Very nice original Alter art style cap. On my monitor too the piping colour is more orange than red.
