    REICHSBAHN M43 cap

    This is an unusual REICHSBAHN M43 dark blue cap with an edelweiss metal badge. The cap in some photos appears almost black, but in daylight it is a very dark blue.

            The shown cap was for regular Reichsbahn and was not worn by Bahnschutz. If wearing suchlike cap it would be a greenish version.

                Billbert,
                I believe I found the photo, it shows men seated, with the front row with Bahnschutz members holding Bergmutze with edelweiss badges, and in the second row Reichsbahn men, but no caps visible. Close enough for the moment

                    I located this image on a Russian auto/railway forum.

                    If anyone is interested in German wartime colour railway photos in the northern Italy region I would recommend paying it a visit.

                    This image shows a nice array of Reichbahn headdress including the blue M43 cap

                        Interesting link grantsmil,

                        The New Zealand soldiers were involved in the occupational of Florence and entered the railway yard shown. I have several 2NZEF veteran brought back German railway items including two visor hats.

                        Have you seen this thread;

                        There are many good German railway uniform & cap images posted by life-time member "stonemint" and other members. Here are some Railway M43 cap images that I found on it,

                              Yes totally agree, you have got me up and going on WW2 German railway again. I must dig out some of my visors and post them here. My uncle was in Florence with 2NZEF and said it was one of the most beautiful of all the Italian cities. The Kiwis enjoyed their time their before being drawn back into the battle for Italy.

                              Many thanks for posting those links,
