    Two panzer sidecaps for opinions

    Hi all,

I have these 2 panzer sidecaps in my collection, I believe they are both 100% original, am I right? Any opinion will be much appreciated!

    Best regards,
    Yun

                Both original beyond doubt

Yun, please fold down the flap on the "Lago Berlin" cap with Russian capture markings, take a picture and post here to show what is extra special about this example

                    Thanks Chris!
Yes I find there's an interesting marking behind the the side flap, what's the meaning of this? Maker mark?

                    Best,
                    Yun

                      Hi Yun,
I don't want to steal 90th's thunder but I'm guessing this is a maker of fine quality wool in this makers batch with his Logo printed.
                      cheers

I agree. I have seen a logo producer of wool in the Panzer jackets.
Typically, the underside of the sleeve.

Great overseas caps I think one of them has come to you from Russia.

                        Best regards,
                        Sergey

                          Thanks Yun,

as other have said, this is the trademark of the company/ woolen mill that made the black cloth. It is a real bonus when one finds this in an original German cap.

It would appear that this mill founded in 1815 made a lot of the wool for these "Lago Berlin" black panzer side caps from the hoard that George.P. found in Russia not long after the Berlin Wall came down.

In the top image below is another example shown in the book "The Panzer Soldier", Crowood Press Ltd, 2006, Page 11. This cap is also a "Lago Berlin" 1941 with Russian capture markings like yours.

And in the lower image is one of my black panzer side-caps also with the woolen mill maker trademark inside the flap when you pull it down. When I took this photo I was making a comparison of the later 1943/ 44 black panzer wool that a black panzer M43 is made of (on the viewers left) with a 1940/ 41 black panzer side-cap made from earlier quality wool (on the viewers right),

                          Chris

Thanks Chris, Sergey and NCO for the info of this interesting logo!

I have never seen a similar logo in a PZ sidecap/wrap before, it's a real bonus to me.

                              Cheers,
                              Yun
