    The hat looks 100% original to me, probably un-issued. Even the eagle and wreath combination looks good. Note that this hat has the later dark green band, not the very early pea-green one. I think this is a transition piece between the very early one, with first type insignia, and the later one with the 2nd style insignia.

      There is exposed stitching above and below the band. It does not show completely around the hat but is hidden behind the piping along most of its length. On the top of the band the exposed stitching is mostly visible in front. Below the band the stitching is visible mostly in the rear. Thoughts on this?
