Salty Luft overseas cap

This was purchased a few years ago and wanted some thoughts on it. Obviously it has seen better days but it gives it some character! Sorry the photo quality isn't the best, my wife has the camera with her on vacation

What kind of cap do you believe it to be then? And yes, it is my favorite whiskey and the metal sleeve makes a creative change holder

It's a Luftwaffe cap but in poor condition, with insignia that looks not only reapplied, but not original to the cap.

Thanks for the clarification Gene. I picked it up a few years ago when I first start collecting and it's just been sitting in a box wrapped ever since.
