            Hi Darek,
            This is not a bergmuetze I would want to keep in my collection. It has some characteristics which I do not like, in particular the leather sweatband appears well worn, while the rest of the cap does not. It does not have the support in the front lining. It does not have grommets, which first became standard in late '38, and naturally, I don't like the metal buttons.

                      The cap has way too many irregularities IMO to be original, though the insignia are. A Fourth Reich production.

                          Servus Darekm,

                          While it's always hard to tell for sure without holding an artifact in ones hands, to me this cap falls well within the varieties of wartime Bergmützen that I've seen in person or in period photography IMHO.
