    Tropical M40 Cap for review

A recent acquisition, reportedly direct from the vet family. I wanted to post her for review before I list on the estand. Notice the zinc washers with steel grommets. Bayer Mutzen Fabrik.

      Agree - unissued original.
Can we see the stamp and grommets, please?
      Cheers!

        cap

As others have stated, Original cap.
These seem to be turning up fairly frequently of late

                Thanks Harry!
Very educational images of the grommets

Interesting cap in a very small size. I owned similar 40 years ago.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Yes, I found the grommets to be educational as well. Might be the first time I have seen both materials used like that.

Great cap for a tiny head. Matt

                        Minty one-looker with "storage" wear.

OK good cap, excellent maker, small size, no doubts there.

However, is it just me or what has happened to the liner ???

Someone has ripped the sides off. I have never seen that before in a tropical German cap and especially one by this maker depot marked "M/43" Even the ones marked "M/44" have red cloth sides inside the cap.

This is unexplainable damage for a basically unissued cap and has an impact on value for sure.

Why would someone do that ???

Looks like the insignia are applied a little sloppy?
