    SCHUPO Tschako Opinions

    Good evening gents,

I know this isn't a piece of Wehrmacht headgear, but it is still cloth for the most part. I posted it in the Police & Civil Militaria Forum, but it has generated no input as of yet. So, if you'd be so kind I'd appreciate some opinions on this Tschako.

I have handled many Ordnungs and Schutz Tschakos over the years, but every one of them has been wool covered and marked with the usual info in the crown (Romer, Erel, etc...). This is the first one I've handled that has been unmarked, and has been in Trikot.

I looked at I don't know how many Threads here and found only one that showed a similar example (Ordnungspolizei in Trikot posted by Chris, but there was no comment about it). See post #70 in http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=tschako+101)

I tried to take as many pics as I could to help make the task easier for you, but if you need anymore just ask.

In-hand I personally like it. You can see that the eagle has left a nice clean area behind it and the inside just has that "certain smell" we love in these old items. I looked under the liner and there are no markings whatsoever.

If it's a turd ball no big deal as I can launch it back so be brutal.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing what you've got to say.

    Have a good evening.

    vr

    Bob

                Bob--

                It is a one-looker original.
You are correct, Trikot is rarely found on these, but it was used.
What is also neat about yours is that it has the clam-shell liner, more often found in officer models, and the extra vent in front, which is also uncommon to find on TR examples.

Thanks Chris - appreciate the quick feedback

With use of the brass grommets for the eagle's posts is it safe to say this is probably circa 1935 - 1939ish?

Officer's model with leather flap on rear with NCO chin strap and bird. IMO

                        Shako covering

I just bought one identical to your with the tricot material, no liner but has a makers label. It also confused me as I only have seen felt. So if anyone has more information about the material covering?
