        I'm convinced, Thanks for your help. The SS sword that came with it has been authenticated by several people that's why it was hard to believe the other piece was fake.

          Just some more help.
          Research everything before getting your wallet out.
          selling a real item, and throwing in fakes for a "package deal" is a common practice by some.

            spend your money wisely

            SS headgear, anything ss is a minefield, even the best in the field gets taken occasionally- nothing to be ashamed of- spend your first thousand on reference books, then go to several shows and handle originals with reputable dealer's permission of course, then ask advice or vet the items on here prior to making a purchase- you will save yourself a lot of money, and lost sleep.

              With respect you've had precisely ONE person reply, and he said it looked repaired but original.

              I guess you are a cup 50% full kind of guy, it pays to take the opposite approach where SS militaria is concerned I'm afraid.
