    Officer Cap No Grommets ?

Opinions on officer cap good quality but no grommets, I have read that sometimes private purchase officer ones didn't have them if requested.

What type of cap is this

2 of my 8 officer side caps dont have grommets. I would think that ratio is representativ. Your cap belonged to an artillery officer.

And to answer your other question... this is a Wehrmacht M38 officer's Artillery officer's side cap...

              Hello Arthur,
I agree with Kurt and LuckyStrike, that this is a nice, original artillery officers overseas cap. These custom tailored caps often came without grommets, especially earlier made examples.
              Thank you,
              Curtiss

Thank you for responding guys, I thought the quality was very nice & insignia but wasn't sure of type & got worried when cap has no grommets.

The cap came with a small hand written note inside flap saying the following:

Taken from kit in staff car Oostelbeers nr Eindhoven Oct 1944 by
                C.S.M Day, M.G.
1st Battalion Highland Light Infantry, attached to 53rd Welsh Division.

But they say buy the item not the story, although I took opportunity & bought it.
