I recently purchased this interesting piece of headgear from the son of a 104th Infantry Division veteran. It appears to be some sort of cold-weather headgear. The exterior is made of gray leather and it features pull-down fur-covered flaps; the interior is a dark green felt-like material.
I assume that the cap is of WW2 German manufacture, but I cannot read the inked marking. I can discern the size "58" - but that's all I can decipher!
I would like to know: is this an official piece of Kriegsmarine headgear? Or is it maybe some type of Luftwaffe headgear? Or is it some kind of weird foreign variant?
Any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
