The chin cords were intended to be worn under the skull so they are usually placed high...It appears the chin cord on this one is quite long (even when tightened) so it could not be worn this way.

Yes, the skull placement itself is not an issue as I have seen plenty configured thus. Glenn's point regarding the cord is a good one. I'd wager that the cord is not original to this particular cap.

This is somewhat unusual but there's another Grey SS officers cap on the e-stand now.

Yes, fake skull. That's the fake mustache Version.
The cap is absolut nice and 100% original. The cord set to the top is how I like to see on textbook SS Officer caps.

I'm not shure but was that cap for sale at Bill Shea (therupturedduck)?

              Cheers,

Wrong, that's a fake of the M1/52 Deschler skull. This one is a fake of the Fritz Zimmermann design.

Oakleaf has one in the Italian gabardine.
Looks OK at first glance, but need the usual close-up pics:

Cap that started this thread is back on dealers site, no mention of fake skull in listing and now a P.O.R instead of original asking price, did I miss something here. TPK

Thank you Ian. This really isn't as difficult as some make it seem.
