    W-SS Officer's Visor Opinions

    Gents,

I'm interested in acquiring this cap. It looks to me like a nice kleiderkasse piece, but I wanted to get some opinions since I've never owned one before. Does anyone see any red flags?

Thanks for the PMs guys. What are fair prices for these then? I thought 10k was what people paid.

                  Skull is copy.
The cord is for my taste to long.

Gisle, thanks for weighing in. Would you mind elaborating on that?

                      So bad TK, good eagle?

Also, I may be wrong, but the chincord could be tightened up with the slider no?

Yes, cord can be adjusted for size

Price is a personal decision . . . The fact that the TK has a Schnurrbart does give concern . . . and I think it would be interesting to see what caused the "bunching" just below the eagle, and above the velvet band - an inside shot at that location would be helpful. If that checks out to be OK, then I think it could be worth moving forward with a hands-on look. Iron gabardine used on kleiderkasse caps is nice - but I've always liked this version of cloth as well . . . and somewhere on here, I once posted photos of a very similar cap - with an identical bird . . . ask Bob Hritz, or do a quick search for "The Mouse Cap" - I think the pics are still out there, somewhere . . .

Fake skull eh...So much for the "US Veterans Estate Bought Outstanding Text Book example" comments in that sales thread but it is typical from this seller.

                            Buy the item,not the story.

I'm no expert, but isn't that skull too high on the band? For a cap in what looks to be average at best condition, that price is too high, IMHO.
Then again, I believe that pretty much all SS caps are wildly overpriced. Seems those skulls get some folks all hot & bothered. Yet, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder; I just think for caps that are not all that rare, they are bloody expensive.
