Luft M43 cap... Ok and Originally applied insignia?

    Thinking of purchasing this cap.
Any red flags here? I think it looks pretty good.

    Thanks!!

      Ok thank you.
I thought I'd seen them with the folded bevo cockade like that.

      It's a great deal I'm excited.
Thanks again for the quick reply.

I would ask for a clear picture of the insignias not saying it's not factory applied

Well I've bought it so I'll take photos when it arrives!

            Thanks,

Here are better photos. Sure looks factory applied to me unless someone took apart and resewed the entire cap!

What is the best way to display these? Fill with muslin?

              Thanks,
              -Brian

Odd that the cockade machine stitching is broken where the Swastika goes underneath. It could be an indication that the eagle was removed at some point and re-sewn..

that's what I was thinking looks like the thread was picked out a bit and eagle tucked in behind cockade and hand sew with dark blue thread with the eagle being that high on the cap I would expect the crown stitching to at least be sewn over the eagles wing tips

                    It is!!!!

Not sure why the stitch is like this... But it looks like the top was hand sewn then the bottom machine stitched. All the same thread.

Another shot of the crown stitching over the eagle wing:

Does the crown stitching actually go through that part of the eagle? Or is the line of machine sewing on the top of the insignia?

You would think it would go through this area circled in red unless the insignia was not fully attached when they sewed the top panel. The red arrow is the crown stitching on the other side.

The crown stitch holds in the top of the wing..

Other side you can see the tip has a crown stitch over it.

                              Thanks Glenn,
It's good to ask the questions! I'm no expert and it helps me to know what to look for on caps like these.

Appreciate the help! Glad to find an original for my display as well.
