    Interesting Coastal artillery visor

    Here's a really strange but I think nice and rare cap from LLD. Has the side grommets usually encountered on caps by this maker.

    It appears to have started life as a green piped Heer NCO cap. The coastal arty eagle is hand sewn so i suppose could have been added post war but I think i will leave as is. It also has a modification to the peak to give it that jaunty 'alter art' look

          Patrick, that is a postwar BRD Police hat with added TR insignia. You can see the holes on the band from the prior police star.

          LLD is Louis Lorz of Darmstadt--they continued to make hats after the war, the police being one of their largest contracts.

            Thanks for the comment- there is an item of insignia missing, I thought it was a wreath.

            I looked at the few LLD visors shown in the past and this one so I thought matched wartime from materials and construction. Is there a giveaway for a post war LLD?

                This is an early 1960's Hessian County Police by LLD (yours is regular police), but it gives you the idea.

                Note how the star is placed high on the band.

                BRD visors are identified by the grommets; style of vulkanfiber visor, and holes from prior insignia.
