Could I please have help with this one. The insignia is definately replaced but is the cap original. No grommets at all. Thanks, Mark.

It seems to have been made with "turned" cloth,classical cloth salvage made
later in the war with recycled cloth .
It does explain the missing grommets and may be the "replaced" badges also.

Not an original sidecap imo, aside the lack of grommets.

Yes, mostly for officers with the private purchase system, but some EM/NCO sidecaps were made too, althought seldomly encountered.

And they produced"simplified" side caps with salvage cloth,most of them without grommets and strange shapes sometimes .
I did exist also jackets and pants,"turned" to have the better side of the cloth
outside .
In that case the watch pocket was then on the wrong side for example ...
Not to be confused with early repros made with original "turned"cloth in the 70's or 80's, by Janke for example ?

In looking closer this one definately has soutache shadows and holes where the ends were inserted. You can also see remnants of the earlier dark green cockade. Just wondered if this makes any difference . Thanks, Mark.

Buy one original, there is only insignas good here...maybe!
