Which type of cap is this?

Probably a stupid question, but which type of cap is this? Without the piping makes me think M42 but it isn't...
Please your advice/opinions.

M34 model from what I can see without soutache and dated 40.
The M42 model you are referring to had the 2 button front that folded down similar to the M43 cap.

Thanks NCO. The piping/soutache has never been on the cap I think.
Is that normal or should I worry whether the cap is original?

Looks like a very nice cap with factory--applied insignia but lago caps are extensively faked so just to be absolutely confident it is 100percent-original, can you post close-up pictures of the vent grommets outside and inside. Sometimes, holes from removed soutache are so tiny that are invisible to eyes and have to use something like a toothpick to find it.

Too much odd details already pointed for a one looker original sidecap.
I would add that a period machine applied eagle in 1940 is not common, althought it can't be considered as an absolute red flag.
