Were it not for the markings one could almost believe it to be field produced. As a maker marked cap, am not comfortable with the construction or quality.

Look at the cockade backing (red circle). It is not wool but canvas. Never seen cockade like that.
Not so bad made, just the material is soft so, it gives a funny shape.
It has been made in Köln by Otto Halb. Do you know this maker?

My opinion remains the same, and matches that of Gustav.
I agree it is not an original cap. There are many examples of original caps on the forum to compare it to. The construction details and markings are so bogus they are not even worth discussing.
I always wonder about these threads. Opinions are sought, but only as long as they are the same as the poster.
