"Mint Infantry Crusher style officer" on Estand opinions.

I've had quite a few crushers in my time and this one on the Estand looks like a basic infantry visor with flatwire insignia added, not "Crusher" style at all in my opinion and maybe enlisted ranks as well going by the single interior shot.

    Others thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing with this one. I'm no expert by any means on these, but I always consider a crusher to have leather bills and no stiffener.

I think his description of " crusher style" is OK for what he have. You find this configuration of insignia and base cap quite often on later war caps. Quite often they have cords as well. J

It is a private-purchase cap so hard to say if it is an "enlisted example". Maybe old stock by that tailor intended for enlisted soldiers but purchased by that young Infantry Leutnant in late 1944 when he was promoted. So if purchased by an officer, that should make it an officer's cap, right?

I like it a lot and find it not only believable but also think these pieces are desirable. It apparently never had chin cords which supports the idea that this was actually made this way. There are many interesting hybrids out there. This example, however, is really just a visor that was made to look like a crusher (as stated before) so I have my strong doubts that it'll fetch that price. Still original though in my opinion and that should always be the main concern.

Some pics of an unmessed pasteboard would certainly still be needed to be certain... Kurt

          not a crusher at all

like previously stated, NOT a true crusher imho at all, just an upgraded late war nco visor with standard nco lining with added crusher style insignia

Way overpriced!!!!! but it's a nice looking hat!!

Well, I agree better photos would be helpful but certainly later war quality 'crusher' style caps were produced with non leather visors and with construction features like standard visored caps (non crushable). This has been discussed before.
