    Hi just picked this sun hat up today at a flea market .is this a trophelm ive never seen this type of liner . holmzey

                Yes indeed, a French sunhelmet, sometimes used by the Wehrmacht.

                    Also made by order for the WH or LW as you have the grey blue ones especially
                    made for the LW for example !
                    Blue grey doesn't exist in the french army pre war ,only dark blue for the Navy but a bit different than this usual pattern .
                    I do have a blue grey LW pith helmet french made to let go at the moment ...

                      Agree its French. Many of these were found in surplus post War. The Kurtz book Afrikakorps page #214 shows a green French made four panel helmet used by the KM. The LW also used a blue grey version as well, as Nick mentions.
